• About Wimbledon Speakers Club


    Formed in 1998 Wimbledon has established itself as a leading force both locally and nationally amongst Speakers Clubs.

    Our aim is to help members develop both confidence and skills in a variety of forms of verbal communication and public speaking.

    A typical Programme covers; Improvised Speaking; Prepared Speeches & Evaluation of Speeches. Occasionally there may be other word games, debates or lighter-hearted entertainment included.

    Our meetings are held on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday each month at the William Morris Rooms (see venue) - 7.30pm start.

    We welcome visitors who just want to drop in and see how they can best benefit.

    Surrey Shield hosted at Wimbledon

    Wimbledon Speakers once again played host to the annual Surrey Shield competition last Wednesday.

    Three teams from the London area competed for the prize, having prepared specially linked presentations on the topic 'Over the Hill'.

    It was a hugely enyertaining evening, with teams taking a light-hearted and amusing view on the emotive subject.

    City of London SC (above) claimed first proize with a superb performance - congratulations to Debra Owen-Hughes, Sue Warner and Alan Free.
