• About Wimbledon Speakers Club


    Formed in 1998 Wimbledon has established itself as a leading force both locally and nationally amongst Speakers Clubs.

    Our aim is to help members develop both confidence and skills in a variety of forms of verbal communication and public speaking.

    A typical Programme covers; Improvised Speaking; Prepared Speeches & Evaluation of Speeches. Occasionally there may be other word games, debates or lighter-hearted entertainment included.

    Our meetings are held on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday each month at the William Morris Rooms (see venue) - 7.30pm start.

    We welcome visitors who just want to drop in and see how they can best benefit.

    Your Most Friendly Committee

    After a successful first meeting, the new committee met at a local hostelry near to the William Morris Meeting Rooms in South Wimbledon.

    From left to right, we have Richard Burgess, Treasurer, Dominic Beecheno, Secretary, Chrissy Facon, Vice President and David Langworthy, President. The man behind the camera was Tim Watt, the Media and Publicity Guru who doesn’t like emails!
