There’s been so much activity in the first two meeting of the speaking year to date - and there’s much more to come.
The consensus is that the club is going really well; 26 people attended meeting of 8 October - and it’s particularly gratifying to see such improvement in speaking skills.
October and November promise to be strong months with demand for speech slots and other jobs in demand. So contact Nigel to a reserve a starring (or equally valued backroom) role.
Other forthcoming events include:

The South Eastern District Team Speaking competition of 2 November - Lee will be our chairman and Sylvia, Tony and David will also be representing Wimbledon at Maidstone.
A House of Commons debate to be held on 6 November
Plus the club speaking, topics and evaluation competitions to be announced later in the year.

New Year, new committee…

The new speaking year gets underway next Wednesday - 10 September at the William Morris Rooms, The Broadway, Wimbledon.

Our club president David will be kicking things off - chairing and will introduce the new committee. More details to come!

July Meetings

Breaking with tradition (slightly) we will be having 2 meetings in July, 9 and 23 to maximise speaking opportunities for all our new speakers. After a break in August, the next meeting will be September 10.

Wimbledon 2008 Dinner

The Annual Dinner will be held on June 27th at the Antoinnette Hotel, Wimbledon.

Guest speakers will be Suzanne OBrien and Sean Birch and a great turnout is expected. This is the premier networking event and celebration in the South East and is always eagerly anticipated. See you there!

Area Speech Contest

On Saturday 23rd February at 2pm.

Everybody is invited to the annual celebration of the very best of London area public speaking.

There will be 3 competitions, prepared speeches, impromptu speaking, and speech evaluation featuring some of the best speakers in the whole of London.

Entry is free and this is a wonderful opportunity to learn from the “cream” of 4 speaking clubs across the capital.
